InternBoard helps students find internships, keep track of applications, and fill in job applications on Workday and Greenhouse with the InternBoard browser extension. This page says what InternBoard keeps about you, why, who else sees it, and how to take it back. It is in beta, invite-only, and run by a small team.

What InternBoard keeps

  • Your account: email address, name, a password (stored only as a salted hash, never readable), an optional photo, and the devices you're signed in on.
  • Your profile: what you put in My Profile - contact details, education, work experience, projects, skills, links, and the resumes and cover letters you upload.
  • Your answers: answers you teach InternBoard for application questions, and the questions it has seen on forms you filled.
  • Self-identification answers, only if you give them: gender, race or ethnicity, veteran and disability status. They're optional, used only to fill the matching questions on applications you choose to fill, and you can clear them at any time.
  • Your job search: saved and hidden jobs, the companies you follow, and your application tracker.
  • If you're an employer: your company's details, the jobs you post, the applications you receive, and messages.

How it's used

Only to run InternBoard for you: showing and ranking jobs, filling the applications you start, giving the resume and job feedback you ask for, and keeping your tracker. InternBoard does not sell your data, show ads, or use third-party analytics or tracking. The only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in.

AI services

When you use an AI feature - reading your resume, answering an application question, analyzing a job, resume help - the text that feature needs (for example your resume text and the question) is sent to an AI provider to produce the answer:

  • Groq answers first. Groq does not train its models on what it is sent.
  • Google Gemini answers when Groq is unavailable, and is used to compare the wording of application questions (the question text only). Depending on the plan InternBoard uses, Google may use what it is sent to improve its products, and its reviewers may read it.

AI answers can be wrong. InternBoard shows them for you to check, and the extension leaves a question for you when it isn't confident. Each account has a daily limit on AI requests.

The browser extension

The extension works only on Workday and Greenhouse application pages, and only when you run it. It reads the form on that page to fill it, sends the form's questions to InternBoard to find your answers, and fetches your profile and the resume you choose from your InternBoard account. It keeps one thing on your computer: the pairing key that connects it to your account (you can replace it on the Account page, which disconnects the old one).

It asks Chrome for the "debugger" permission for one reason: some Workday checkboxes ignore clicks made by an extension, so it clicks them the way you would. It attaches only to the application tab you're filling, while it fills, and detaches when it's done - Chrome shows a banner while it's attached.

Who else sees it

  • Employers you apply to through InternBoard see the application you send them. Applications you send on other sites go to those sites, under their own policies.
  • The InternBoard team can see accounts to run the service - for example to approve employers or to make a password reset code when you ask for one.
  • Service providers: Amazon Web Services hosts InternBoard, and the AI providers above process the text sent to them.
  • Stripe takes card payments for AI credits. It receives your email address and the card and billing details you type on its page, under Stripe's privacy policy. InternBoard keeps only what you bought, when, and for how much - never your card number. When you delete your account, your plan is ended and your customer record at Stripe is deleted; Stripe keeps its own record of past payments, as the law asks of it.

Taking it back

On the Account page you can download everything InternBoard keeps about you, and delete your account. Deleting is immediate and final. The one exception is the law's: an application you sent to an employer through InternBoard stays with that employer for the time US employment law requires (usually one year, two for large federal contractors), and is then deleted. Your payment records and usage totals are kept without your name - what was bought and when, and what your AI requests cost - because the business has to account for them. Nightly backups are kept for seven days.
